Zwentibold

Zwentibold (870/871 - † August 13rd 900), king de Lotharingie of 895 with † 900, wire bastard of Arnulf de Carinthie. In 897, it had taken for wife Oda of Saxony, girl of Otton Ier of Saxony.

Genealogy

Zwentibold or Zuintibold is the bastard son of Arnulf de Carinthie, itself wire naturalness of the king Carloman of Bavaria. In 888, Arnulf is elected king of Germanie, Lotharingie and Italie.
After having pushed back in the mountains of Switzerland the armies of Rodolphe king of Burgundy transjurane, Arnulf becomes the peaceful Master of the Lorraine regions. In May 895, it then yields them by misfortune to his natural son, Zwentibold. It is to place insane on the throne of Lorraine. The first foolish act of the new prince is to attack the king Eudes de France, and to besiege Laon.
From 898, it is also caught some to the large lords of its kingdom, with the counts Etienne de Pouilly, Odoacre, with its principal minister Régnier Ier de Hainaut, with Gerard Ier of Metz and with its brother Matfried Ier. It drives out them, the skin of their dignities, removes all to them their goods and their grounds to distribute them to its favorites. His/her Arnulf father makes very to reconcile his son with some of these large lords, but in vain.
Zwentibold is surrounded women without manners, people of nothing, the flattering ones and accomplices. It is made a play of the life and honor of the most powerful men, most virtuous. The things are such as, in 899, Arnulf, his/her father, and Charles Simple the is intended to strip it of Lorraine. But Arnulf dies, and this resolution remains without suite.
Zwentibold reigns little of time but to draw up enough against him all the aristocracy of the country. It finds death the August 13rd 900
