Zambia railways
Zambia Railways Limited ( ZRL ) is one of the two principal railroad companies in Zambia. Other company is Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) which is inter-connected with the ZRL with Kapiri Mposhi, and a connection with Dar Es Salaam allows. The ZRL connects the mines of the Copperbelt and the Katanga in Democratic republic of Congo with Kapiri Mposhi and connection with the TAZARA, the capital Lusaka, and by the Chutes Victoria the railroads of the Zimbabwe. By Zimbabwe can be reached the ports of the Mozambique (Beira, Maputo) and the South Africa.
The network primarily was built under the British domination , and was considered as a section of the Railroad the Cape it Cairo, and the exploitation of the layers mining of central Africa. The connection with the Railroad of Benguela is currently not operational (if it is not by Lubumbashi). The ZRL counts a network of 846 kilometers of line railroad principal (generally with single track), and 427 kilometers of line additional.
