Zabshali

The Zabshali is an area of the old Iran, associated with the Élam in the sources Mésopotamie of the end of thousand-year-old IIIè front J. - C.

Zabshali is mentioned in the texts of the Third Dynasty of Ur like a powerful kingdom being in the area of the central Zagros. It seems even according to a text that its northern border reached banks of the sea Caspienne. Other texts identify it like belonging to the area of the Simashki. One sometimes proposed to see in Zabshali the most powerful kingdom of this territory, that these kings would have unified before dominating all Élam under the name of " kings de Simashki".

It in any case appears that this kingdom is in relation sometimes peaceful, sometimes quarrelsome with the kings of Ur who dominate Mésopotamie in XXIè century, like the other kings of the Iranian Plate of Anshan or of the Marhashi. Shoulgi and Shu-Sin is praised to have overcome Zabshali, while Ibbi-Sin Marie her daughter with her king. When they are submitted to kings d' Ur, the kings of Zabshali pour a tribute with those.

Thereafter Zabshali is not mentioned any more in the texts, while a dynasty known as of Simashki seizes the power in Élam. That can reinforce the idea according to which Zabshali dominates Simashki, but can as mean as it is incorporated in this unit.
