Zéodratation
The zeodratation is a technique of Déshydratation using Zéolite S.
Its scopes of application are still far from being all explored but it revolutionizes already the field of drying because of the great flexibility of the process, which makes it possible to adapt the treatment, in Pression and Température, to answer the quality standards of the selected products.
Principle
Engines containing a Zeolite in the form of balls, absorb the steam generated by the evaporation and rejects it after regeneration.
The zeodratation is practiced at a temperature “produced” ranging between - 20 °C and +60 °C. This makes it possible to operate without deterioration of qualities Organoleptique S, while respecting the structure of the products.
Operation
This technique is based on the use of the Vide, with contribution of energy, more quickly to extract the Eau from a product for its Déshydratation.
The use of a selective trap made up of zeolite, makes it possible, on the one hand, to preserve the integrity of the products and, on the other hand, to operate with a capacity of evaporation constant and unlimited in time.
The various stages of the process proceed in the following way:
- the product is charged in the enclosure (tank, churn, tunnel);
- the enclosure is put vacuum and can reach pressures lower than 100 Pa;
- the product is then treated with a positive or negative temperature according to its sensitivity as well as the type of drying considered;
- the duration of the cycle depends on the capacity of the product to release water;
- once the residual Moisture wished reached (it can be brought back to a value lower than 1%), dehydration is finished;
- the vacuum “is then broken” and the product is discharged.
Contrary to the Freeze-drying, the use of gas of Réfrigération chlorinated is not necessary since steams are collected by the Zéolite S.
The zeolites employed for the zeodratation are produced industrially in the form of granules of approximately two millimetres. The diameter of the nanopores is of 400 picometers (4Å), which corresponds to the size of a Molécule of water, making Zéolite a selective molecular trap.
