Yutaka Fukufuji
Yutaka Fukufuji (born the September 17th 1982 with Kushiro on the island of Hokkaidō in Japan) is a professional player of Hockey.
Career in club
It begins its career of player in 2001 by playing for the team of Kokudo in the Japanese championship.The year according to, it joined the North America and the Cyclones of Cincinnati in ECHL. In January 2003, he is elected recruit month in the ECHL. He is the first goalkeeper of Japanese origin to have been selected during a fishing out of entry in the LNH.
Other Japanese is Taro Tsujimoto and Hiroyuki Miura . The first was selected by the Sabers of Buffalo as a 183e choice in 1974. Actually, that was not a real choice and Punch Imlach, director of the Sabers, time admitted thereafter to have invented this player. The second, Hiroyuki Miura , was chosen by the Canadian of Montreal in 1992 but forever played a match in the LNH.
Yutaka Fukufuji is thus selected during the fishing out of entry in the National league of hockey in 2004 by the Kings of Los Angeles in eighth round, 238e choice on the whole. He plays the season which follows for the Condors of Bakersfield and in August 2005, he signs a contract with Kings for two years.
After having begun the season 2005-06 with the Royals de Reading in the ECHL, it is selected to play replacing in the American Ligue of hockey for the Monarchs of Manchester.
The December 15th 2006, it is called on the bench of Kings in replacement but does not play the match. It is necessary to wait the January 13rd to see the first Japanese player evolving/moving on a skating rink of the LNH. It returns at the time of the third period of a match against the Blues of Saint-Louis whereas its team loses 4 goals with 5. The final score is of 6 - 5.
