Yuko Sakaki

Yuko Sakaki is a fictitious female character of the novel, manga and film Battle Royale. It belongs to the class the 3rd B of the municipal college of Shiroiwa (department of Kagawa) which takes part in the Program.

During the Program, it appears only at the time of the combat between Shuya Nanahara and Tatsumichi Oki. Sakaki sees the moment when Oki receives the accidental mortal blow by Nanahara. As it was hidden, nobody could see it. It was then put to flee, as from this moment terror seizes it.

At this point in time it will meet the group of Yukie Utsumi with Chisato Matsui, Yuka Nakagawa, Satomi Noda and Haruka Tanizawa with which it told what it had seen. They take as cushy job the headlight of the island.

Sakaki has, according to the novel, as arms a stick with in no-claims bonus with the Cyanide potassium. It treats Nanahara of " Diable" , believer whom it killed Oki voluntarily.

As that was not enough for him, the girls recover Nanahara which has escaped with Kazuo Kiriyama. Seriously wounded, Sakaki hopes that he dies. But unfortunately for it, Utsumi their advertisement which it is alive and awoke. As Sakaki was afraid of him, Utsumi locked up it with key.

But it decides to kill it by adding its poison in the plate of Nanahara. It is unfortunately Yuka Nakagawa which eats the dish and dies. That causes the doubt and the massacre of the headlight which only responsible Sakaki, it, survive about it.

In film, it is it which opens the door with Nanahara before jumping of the top of the headlight. It was mistaken on its case, it is the last words which it gives before dying.

In the novel and manga, Nanahara succeeds in forcing the door. Follows shootings of Sakaki from there on Nanahara, it goes up then to the top of the headlight. Indicator that Nanahara arrives it throws in the vacuum. In the novel, Nanahara succeeds in taking its hand at the last time in spite of its wounds but Sakaki, full with regret requires of him to release it. It struggles and fall. In the manga, Nanahara manages to bring back it but not being able to support the loss of his/her friends, jumps in the vacuum.

In these last moments, the terror of Sakaki ends and Nanahara becomes an angel but wondering why it did that. It is unfortunately too late.

Additional details

In the novel, his/her alcoholic father, his mother and his big brother misuse it. The father will be stabbed and killed by a Yakuza after an argument when Sakaki was small. It made nightmares of them and since is terrified by any kinds of violence or situation gore.

In the manga, with the college, Sakaki had attended a brawl. For this day, it has not left any more to the college and is locked up in its room. His/her father asks him to go to see a psychiatrist because he does not want only she wastes his life. His/her father thus opens his room in company of his mother but it closes again the door abruptly and wounds her father. This last hiding place the wound to him, that made it react and decides to see a psychiatrist.

Always in the manga, one sees his parents who discuss in connection with it. The father does not think that his/her daughter will gain but they want that it returns because it has friends in whom it can have confidence.
