Yoshinobu Oyakawa

Yoshinobu (" Yoshi") Oyakawa , born the August 9th 1933 with Hawaii, is old a American swimmer specialist in the Dos-crawlé. He was Olympic champion on the test of the 100 m back at the time of the Jeux of Helsinki in 1952.

Graduate in physical education with the University of the State of Ohio, it dominates the university competitions in backstroke such as the Big Ten Conference or NCAA. In 1954, two years after its Olympic title, it beats the world records of the 100 m back held by its dolphin with the OJ Gilbert Bozon. With a time of 1 ' 02" 8, he becomes the first man under the 1 ' 03" 0. The French swimmer will take again this record in 1955 however to him.

In 1970, it is named to appear in the prestigious International Swimming Hall off Famed.
