Yazid Ben Abi Sufyan

Yazîd Ben Abî Sufyân (??? - 639) (rear RTL يزيدبنابيسفيان) was the oldest son of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb, and the brother of Mu `âwiya Ben Abî Sufyân. All the three were adversary of Mahomet until the catch day before of Mecque by the Moslems in 630. They took part in the battle of Hunayn.

Yazîd quickly became one of those which will be brought to direct the community of the believers. It is during the caliphate of Abû Bakr and that of `Umar that its strong personality on more the occasion to be expressed.

Brought to direct the task force in Syria, it had as carries standard his brother Mu `âwiya, Yazîd was illustrated in many feat of arms. It contracted the plague with Emmaüs (rear RTL عمواس, “Amwâs , Νικόπολις, Nicopolis ) during an epidemic which reached the Hedjaz and Syria and died about it (639). The caliph named at his station, his brother Mu `âwiya who remained it during the caliphate of `Alî until his seizure of power in 661.
