Yalou
The Yalou is a Fleuve which marks the Frontalière between the Popular republic of China and of the North Korea.
It is born to 2500 m from altitude and throws in the Yellow Mer. It makes 800 km length and its catchment area has a surface of 30.000 km ².
Two great battles proceeded on its course:
- the Battle of the river Yalou (1894), during the Sino-Japanese war;
- the Battle of the river Yalou (1904), during the War Russo-Japanese woman.
Both were decisive Japanese victories.
During the Japanese occupation (1910 - 1945), the left bank of the river was strongly industrialized: 20% of the industrial production of the Japanese empire came from Korea.
During the War of Korea, in October and November 1950, the approach of Yalou by the US forces started the intervention of the " volontaires" Chinese who pushed back the face beyond the parallel 38e.
The Pont of the sino-Korean friendship makes it possible to cross the river.
