Yōko Ogawa
Yoko Ogawa (小川洋子, born in 1962 with Okayama) is a writer E Japan ease, author of many Romance S - courts until in 1996 - as well as Nouvelle S and of Essai S.
It gained the prestigious Prix Akutagawa for the Pregnancy in 1991, and also the Prix Tanizaki, Prix Izumi, Prix Yomiuri, and the Prix Kaien for its beginning.
Its romantic universe is characterized by an obsession of the classification, will to keep the trace of the memories or past ( Annular the , 1994; the Museum of Silence , 2000), this will combined with the meticulous analysis of the narrator (or, less frequently, of the narrator) of her own feelings and motivations (which come often by far) frequently leading to deviations and perversions out of the commun run, the whole written with simple words which accentuate the force of the account.
It is influenced by the traditional Japanese writers like Junichiro Tanizaki, but also, thanks to its writer preferred Haruki Murakami, by American authors like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Truman Capote and Raymond Carver. During his studies in English/American literature at the university of Tokyo, its professor, Motoyuki Shibata (which make the first translation of English Ogawa, and Japanese translator of Paul Auster) make known to him Paul Auster, whose novel Moon Palace is a great influence on Ogawa.
Into European languages, its novels were translated into French, German, Greek, Spanish, Catalan, and recently in English (in the United States) and Italian. Generally translated is its novel Hôtel Iris , which is less implicit than (and thus a little different from) its other works and which treated sexual relationship (of Shibari, or Bondage Japanese) between a 17 year old girl and an old man. A film adaptation of its news Annular the left to France in June 2005, a film of Diane Bertrand with Olga Kurylenko and Marc Barbé.
