XBRL
XBRL is the tensible acronym of e' X' B usiness R eporting L anguage.
XBRL is an emergent standard founded on XML to describe information of performance financière.
The standard is directed by a non-profit-making international consortium (XBRL International Incorporated) of more than 300 organizations, consisted of regulators, government agencies and salesmen of software. XBRL International is supported by its jurisdictions - independent authorities, generally organized on a national basis, which work to promote the adoption of XBRL and the development of Taxonomie S which defines the needs for information exchange of their own fields. XBRL was quickly adopted to replace at the same time the legal electronic financial data or on paper by a great number of regulators. It is now used for the delivery of powerful financial informations, inter alia in the SEC program in the United States.
XBRL is a standard being used to communicate financial data. These communications are defined by a whole of meta-data established in taxonomies. Taxonomies include/understand the definition of individual elements of reporting as well as the relations between the elements in a taxonomy and other taxonomies. They provide an extremely powerful manner to model the semantic ones of a reporting and are easily extensible. So taxonomies can in theory being created by no matter whom, most important were created via a collaboration between accountants seeking to take again the generally accepted principles which apply in many jurisdictions. Organizations which seek to communicate data with thirds produce data, instantiés documents which are in conformity with these taxonomies.
The way in which these taxonomies themselves are dependant is directed by a formal specification that international consortium XBRL publishes.
XBRL is a little different from numerous other standards XML published by the consortia. Usually, when 2 parts want to exchange information via XML, they need as a preliminary to have access to all the definitions of the elements. Unfortunately, accountancy implies the dissemination of information, the great majority of this one having to conform to standards of reporting, but some are single with the environment of a particular company.
What to make? XBRL allows the creation of taxonomies which record the semantics of a reporting like US GAAP ( Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ) or the International Financial Reporting Standards ( IFRS ) by a collaboration of the consortium. These taxonomies are created through a a little different process that for XML.
A taxonomy XBRL is a structured dictionary clarifying the whole of the concepts used by a country (the United States), a group of country (European Community) or a particular field (stock exchange banks, insurances, places…). Taxonomies then make it possible to create documents XBRL, the authorities, containing the facts (data countable, financial) which are then exchanged by the companies and the organizations concerned (banks, purses, insurances, organizations of financial control…).
Utility of XBRL…
vehicular Syntax, XBRL is a conveyer and a container of standardized information.
In addition, he is the fluidificator par excellence of the exchange of information decisional, whatever the computer infrastructure and technological. In fine, by giving the capacity to the end user, XBRL contributes to logical ubiquity with knowing the availability of the data and the tools for treatment, whatever the place where one is. Adoption of the standard
“In 2007, the French banks will have to transmit to the Bank charge the data required by the regulation Basle II under this format. In England, Spain, Sweden, Belgium or in the Netherlands, the standard is gradually necessary for the exchange of information tax, lawful or the deposit of the accounts”
