World cup of hockey
The world cup of hockey is the competition of Hockey which succeeded the Coupe Canada. The countries taking part in the competition are the national teams classified in the first eight places of the Classement IIHF. The world cup of hockey should not be confused with the championship of the world, an annual tournament disputed since 1930. The world cup of hockey is organized by the National league of hockey and not by the International federation of hockey, the matches are thus played according to the rules of the LNH.

First edition of the World cup, it brought together the following teams:
The teams were divided into two hens, division “North America” (the United States, Canada, Slovakia and Russia) and division Europe (Czech Republic, Finland, Germany and Sweden).
Canadians and Americans found themselves finally and the Canadians gained the Cut in three matches. With 11 points Brett Hull is the best pointer of the tournament.
2004

In 2004, they are once again same the eight teams which play for the Cut and the same groups are made up.
The Finns are opposed to the Canadians for this new final which is played in only one match. Joe Sakic, Scott Niedermayer and Shane Doan registers the 3 goals for Canada against a goal of Riku Hahl and another of Tuomo Ruutu for Finland. Fredrik Modin, Swedish player, is the best pointer of the tournament with 8 points.
