• the Finnish jumper Matti Nykänen gains the two individual contests of Ski jump and obtains a third gold medal in the test by teams.

• Canada is the only country not to have gained a gold medal whereas he was the host of the Olympic Games (Montreal 1976 and Calgary 1988).

• a new test appears in Alpine skiing: super G. It is gained at the men by the French Franck Piccard.

• Allemande of the east Katarina Witt gains over the music of the Carmen of Bizet its second Olympic title in Figure skating.
