William Whewell is a Minéralogiste and Mathématicien English born with Lancaster the May 24th 1794 and died with Cambridge the March 6th 1866.
In 1821, he becomes member of the Royal Société of London. He taught mathematics, mineralogy and the Philosophie with the Université of Cambridge. In 1841, he was director of the Trinity College, and in 1855, vice-chancellor of the University.
Paletiologic sciences study the historical events while seeking to explain them. This term appears for the first time in Histoire of inductive sciences in 1837.
