William John Broderip

William John Broderip is a Magistrat and a British Naturaliste , born the November 21st 1789 with Bristol and dead the February 27th 1859 with London.

Broderip makes its studies with Oxford and becomes member of the bar in 1817. In 1822, it works for the magistrate of the metropolitan police force (Metropolitan Police Service), it exerts its functions until in 1856 initially with the course police force of the the Thames then to that of Westminster.

It devotes its leisures to the Natural history and makes appear many work in Zoologie. It is him which signs the articles of Zoologie of the Penny Cyclopædia off the Society for the Diffusion off Useful Knowledge as well as a series of article for the Fraser' S Magazine joins together in a collection in 1848 followed in 1852 by Leaves from the Note Book off has Naturalist . It also makes articles on the Oiseau X, the Reptile S, the Crustacé S, the Cirrigrade S, etc

It takes part in the foundation of the zoological Société of London in 1826 and has a very rich collection of Coquillage S now preserved by the Muséum of natural history of London. This one was in particular used by William Swainson (1789-1855) for the drafting of Exotic Conchology gold figures and descriptions off rare, beautiful, but undescribed shells (1821 - 1822). Broderip is also secretary of the geological Société of London, member of the Royal Society (1828) and of the Société linnéenne of London.
