White flag
Symbolism
The white flag is an international sign of Paix, truce, rendering of a belligerent.This flag is typically employed in period of Guerre; soldiers carrying or agitating a white flag should not be attacked. It indicates to all that a negotiator approaches disarmed or for going.
One waits of a person carrying the white flag which it remains neutral and does not engage in warlike acts.
The white flag is recognized by the Geneva Conventions.
Vexillologie
The white flag was also the Drapeau of the kingdom of France, until the July 31st 1830, except between 1790 and 1815 when it was replaced by the current Tricolor. One should not confuse the white flag of France with the banner of France, blue with flowers of lily.
