In the Science of the materials, the wear indicates the phenomenon of erosion of a solid surface under the action of an other solid. This erosion can take the form of a loss of mass, dimension, form. The study of the phenomena of wear is one of the fields of the Tribologie.

Wear can be due to the processes of abrasion (wear of adherence), of Abrasion, Corrosion or tiredness.
