Walther Rathenau

Walther Rathenau , born with Berlin the September 29th 1867 and dead assassinated in Berlin the June 24th 1922, is an industrialist, writer and German politician.

Important personality of the German history of the beginning of the 20th century, Walter Rathenau is resulting from an Jewish family. Wire of Emil Rathenau, German tycoon of the electricity which bought the patent of Edison, brilliance raises, it makes its studies with the Faculty of Science of Berlin and Strasbourg. At 26 years, it is named with the head of a company of Aluminum. In 1899, his/her father offers to him an important station within its company of electricity, AEG.

Become Minister for the Rebuilding in 1921 and Foreign Minister in 1922, under the Weimar Republic, Walter Rathenau attracts the hatred of the revolutionary nationalist groups of right-hand side like left. Its blazing style and its intelligence, setting with the service of the German government, are opposed to the chaos in which revolutionary forces resulting from the Irregular forces (see also: Freikorps) hopes to build a new business on the ruins of the First World War. He is then regarded by his enemies as a representative of the “Old mode”. The Organization Consul, terrorist group in which evolves/moves Ernst von Solomon, decides to assassinate it to cause the fall of the government. The terrorists pass to the action on June 24th 1922: a convertible having two men on board vêtus of leather overcoats and hoods approaches the car of the minister. Rathenau is cut down several blows of automatic Pistolet. The assassins escape then while launching a grenade. An immense operation of police force is started and the majority of the nationalist groups are decapitated.

July 17th, 1933, Hitler will pose a gesture highly symbolic system by publicly honouring the assassins with Rathenau.
