Wafer comtoise
The wafer comtoise is a traditional Dessert frankly comtois whose origin goes back to the 14th century.
It is the wafer shape of the kings, flat French traditional of the Epiphany.
In the biblical beginning first, this wafer is a simple and economic dessert accessible to the greatest number. At the 11th century, the Chanoines of the chapter of Besancon are reflected to appoint their future leader by hiding a silver coin in a bread. Little by little of other congregations adopted this habit. The bread was transformed into brioche, kind of bread dough “improved”.
