History

Vince McMahon gave for the first time the belt to Mankind the November 2nd 1998. After having lost the title against Big Bossman, it forever have chance to recover it, considering he from now on was proposed in the Hand-vent S little time after the loss of the belt. At that time origins of the title, the idea was that the belt should be used in comic segments to try to put even ahead the reputation of Mankind as a famous all-in wrestler hardcore, but whereas Foley made the unaminity with the public and that the popularity of the Catch hardcore did not cease increasing at the time, the Hardcore title seemed to be able fonctionnerà full-time. Its growing popularity led even the rivals of the World Championship Wrestling to create their clean title Hardcore, a change followed by many other independent federations.

24/7

When Crash Holly gained the belt, it introduced the " rule 24/7 " ; who meant that the title was to be defended " at any moment… as long as an official aarbitre is présent." This brought many moments Comique S, in particular once where the belt changed hands whereas the champion was deadened, and a segment at the time of an edition of RAW where The Headbangers continued Crash Holly in the neighborhoods of Funtime the USA , a park of leisure located at Brooklyn, Crash escaping the attempts repeated from its adversary to seize its title.

The addition of this rule is known as to have made division much more interesting and unforeseeable, adding a vast display of holders and matches. However, of other thought that this rule devaluated valeure of this championship for the same reasons. This rule brought to the reigns of titles shortest and to the fastest changes of the titles in the history of the WWE. For example the April 2nd 2000 with WrestleMania 2000 with Anaheim in California, it y' had 10 changes of title in the 15 minutes space.

At that time, four women held the Hardcore title: Molly Holly, Trish Stratus, Terri Runnels, and Cynthia Lynch.

The rule of the 24/7 was used until the August 19th 2002 when the General Manager of RAW Eric Bischoff decided to suspend it after a Royal Bataille Hardcore was gained in 6 minutes by Tommy Dreamer.

Unification and withdrawal

When Bradshaw gained the belt for the first time the June 9th 2002, it replaced it by a customized model proposing its gimmick of Cowboy texan. This belt comprised a drapeu of Texas, giant horns of bull and the words “Texas Hardcore Champion”. When Tommy Dreamer gained the title, it reorganized the belt of Bradshaw with a format with the license of New York (Dreamer is of Yonkers to New York). This version of the belt was used until it is withdrawn.

The August 26th 2002, Rob Van Damm " unifiait" the title with Intercontinental WWE Championship when it beat the champion Hardcore Tommy Dreamer, thus withdrawing the title. This reign can thus be defined like shortest of the history, as the Hardcore title was unified with the Intercontinental title as early as Van Damm had gained it.

At the time of an edition of RAW at the summer 2003, all-in wrestlers of the WWE and old of the Extreme Championship Wrestling Al Snow, The Dudley Family (Bubba, D-Von, and Spike Dudley), Tommy Dreamer, and Rob Van Damm, with Vince McMahon, and the Co-General Manager of RAW Stone Cold Steve Austin presented the Hardcore title to the " Caption Hardcore" , Mick Foley, as a present.

The belt was semi-officially reactivated by Mick Foley semi-2006 for one short period when he declared itself and Edge " joint-holders of the Hardcore" title; during a feud with Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk and following a match hardcore by team between them with ECW One Night Stand. After the feud ended, the belt disappeared once more from television.
