Volvo XC90
Revealed with the public in January 2002 with the Living room of Strait, the Volvo XC90 is a SUV ( Sport Utility Vehicle ) of luxury based on the large platform Volvo P2.
Following very a strong demand of the the United States, the decision is made to increase the production of the XC90, manufactured in the factory of Torslanda with Gothenburg. The initial plan envisaged 65.000 units per annum, it passed to 90.000.
In 2004, the XC90 thus became the model more sold mark with 84.000 units.
This all-way thus comes to compete with BMW and Mercedes with their X5 and ml left a few years before.
The stress was immediately laid on safety during the development, that it is that of the driver but also that of the other worn ones of the road like the pedestrians, the cyclists or more the small cars.
The XC90 has a sophisticated system of anti-reversal called ROPS ( Rollover Protection System ).
It received the price of the best any way of the world in 2004.
