Volvo C70
The C70 is a Automobile mark Volvo.
Initially appeared as a Divided in 1996, it was then declined in Cabriolet one year later.
In 2005, Volvo leaves its substitute, a Coupé convertible equipped with a roof in 3 parts.
First generation (1997-2005)
Initially presented in October 1996 to the World of the car of Paris in version cut , it is then revealed with the public in January 1997 with the Living room of Detroit in version convertible .
It is based on the Volvo S70 with which it divides the platform and the motorizations. Its design and its development were made with the collaboration of Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), who is partly owner of the factory of Uddevalla where C70 is assembled.
The production of the half-compartment is stopped in August 2002, that of the convertible in summer 2005.
Second generation (as from 2006)
The substitute of C70 is introduced in September 2005 to the Auto show of Frankfurt (IAA).
It is about a very new car which does not present any more a roof in fabric but a retractable hard roof in three parts conceived in partnership with the Italian carriage-builder Pininfarina. This new half-compartment convertible thus makes it possible Volvo to create one model to replace its old C70 Coupé and C70 Cabriolet. Many parts are in common with the Volvo S40, V50 and C30, such as the engines and the Plate-forme P1.
Just like its predecessor, it is assembled with Uddevalla, in Sweden. He was marketed as from the first six-month period 2006.
