Volvo
Volvo , founded in 1927 in Sweden with the assistance of the company SKF, is a manufacturer of vehicles and engines.
The expression Latin E Volvo means “I roll”.
In the beginning held by AB Volvo since 1927, the automobile activities of Volvo are property of the Group Ford since 1999, under the denomination Volvo Cars, distinct in particular from those of Volvo Trucks. Those belong to AB also called Volvo Volvo Group. Volvo indeed produced heavy trucks, Autobus and coaches since 1928. AB Volvo is today one of the principal manufacturers of trucks, bus, bus and machines of building sites in the world. At the beginning of 2002, AB Volvo restructured its sector heavy trucks by dividing it into three distinct companies: Renault Trucks, Mack Trucks Inc. and Volvo Trucks. AB Volvo also produces naval constructions and generators (Volvo Construction Equipment). In this last department, the firm famous for its Dumper S is articulated. Still let us note that Volvo remains a large motor mechanic.

History
In auto industry, the evolutions followed one another quickly in the years 1920, Assar Gabrielsson, sales manager at SKF, indeed planned to open a factory intended to accommodate the production of cars for which SKF would provide bearings to balls and kneecaps with rollers. It thus contacted the designer Gustaf Larsson, which was harnessed with the design of a car. The plans were completed in spring 1925, and Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larsson carried out the production of 10 cars. Once these prepared specimens, it was decided in 1926 that Volvo, subsidiary of SKF, would continue the automobile production. This company manufactured before a bearing with a line of balls called “Volvo” (derivative of Latin, meaning “I roll”) - a name which was appropriate also perfectly for the new products! Series production of the convertible model (ÖV4 " Jakob") in 1927 was inaugurated. Later, a version with sedan was added to the range, contributing to raise the sales of vehicles, but the company was viable only as from 1930. For this time, the Volvo company has known a dynamic evolution, and became the most important company of Scandinavia.
In 1995, Volvo acquires part of the credits of the bus Prévost (Prévost Because Inc.) in North America and 9 years later, Volvo take the totality of the credits of this company which specializes in the manufacture of the Autobus great tourisms.
In 1999, the group Volvo AB yields its automobile branch to the group Ford for 6,5 billion dollars.
October 1st, 2005, Frederik Arp takes the head of Volvo Because Corporation, succeeding Hans Olov Oslon. Volvo Because Corporation sold in 2005 a little less than 500.000 cars. The objective of the new chairman is to sell at least 600.000 of them. Volvo Because Corporation was in 2005 the only profitable top-of-the-range mark of the group Ford.
