Voljski

Voljski () is an industrial city of the Oblast of Volgograd, in Russia. It is located on left bank of the the Volga, with the junction with its Défluent the Akhtouba. Voljski has a population of: 310518 inhabitants (2004) and is located at approximately 20 kilometers of Volgograd.

No population lived on the site of the city until the 18th century. The first colonists were the fugitive ones who gave each other the name of bezrodnye (Ru безродные " without friends nor parents") and which founded a village of the same name. In 1720 Pierre Large the having noted the abundance of Mulberry tree S in the area, ordered the creation of a Soierie. The agglomeration of Voljski was recorded for the first time in 1952 whereas its population reached 10  000 inhabitants. In 1954 the borough became the town of Voljski. Its stronger population increase was related to the construction of the Hydroelectric station of the Volga.

The city was built by civil prisoners who were rewarded by attribution for houses or apartments at the end for their sorrow for the same manner that the close town of Volgograd was rebuilt after 1945 by German prisoners. The city was built in a modern style with courses of buildings making it possible its inhabitants to protect itself from the hot winds of summer come from the steppe.

The principal companies established in the city are the Volga GES (hydroelectric station), Voljski Trubny Zavod (steel tubes), Voljski Khimvolokno (textile fibers), Voljski Orgsynthese (chemicals), Voljskrezinotekhnika (manufacture of resin), Voljski Chinny Zavod (pneumatic), Voljski Podchipnikovy Zavod (bearings).
