Vitolphilie

The vitolphilie is the name given to the Collection of the rings of cigar.

At the end of the XIXe century, the Cigare is regarded as a luxury article and all is implemented to represent it such as it is. The rings of cigars and the labels of boxes appear then. Until 1940, splendid rings of cigars are made by litography and often gilded with the fine gold. Certain amateurs consequently put themselves to collect them. The name of this passion to take the name of " vitolphilie" , of Spanish " vitola" (rings cigar) and of the Greek " phili" (that which likes). The choice of Spanish is explained by the fact why the principal producer countries of cigars are Spanish-speaking.

Association Vitolphilique Française (AVF) is created since 1954. She extends her activity to the Philuménie (collection of the boxes of matches) a few years later and takes the name of Association Vitolphilique and Philuménique Française (AVPF). This association counts today nearly 500 collectors.
