Visceral surgery
The visceral surgery is a branch of the Chirurgie treating the affections of the abdomino-pelvic bodies primarily. The visceral surgeons treat the affections of the abdominal wall and the digestive system; they are also often brought to operate on not-digestive intra-abdominal bodies such as the Rate, or on endocrine glands like the Thyroïde.
The visceral surgery in France currently undergoes a crisis of vocations, whereas many are the surgeons exerting who reach the retirement age.
From the technical point of view there initially exist several types:
-
traditional surgery, with “open sky”, by Laparotomie or elective access (Mc Burney for appendicitis),
- the Coelioscopy which allows thanks to the creation of a workspace by carbonic gas blowing in the abdominal cavity, and introduction of various instruments and a camera, to conclude certain interventions (blister ++).
- ways initially endo-luminales, for example for the hémorroïdes or the tumors of the rectum.
By order of frequency, the affections most often treated are: - in urgency: appendicitis peritonitis occlusion strangulated hernia abdominal traumatisms digestive hemorrhages (ulcer gastro-duodénal,…) hémorroïdes…. - cold: blister hernias and éventrations pathologies colics: crohn and RCH, tumors,… gastric pathologies: RGO, ulcers, tumors,… pathologies of hail, the pancreas, spleen,…
