Saumur

The vineyard of Saumur (or Saumur-native ) is a vineyard of the Val-de-Loire which produces white wines (dry, medium dry or effevescents) and reds. This vineyard was classified AOC by the decree of the November 22nd 1999 (repeals the decree of the December 31st 1957, the first relative order with name being that of the November 14th 1936). It covers approximately 1300 hectares out of 20 communes of Maine-et-Loire, 9 of the Vienna and 2 of the Two-Sevres. The Resident of Saumur is a subset of the Anjou, and, for this reason, the wines produced in the Resident of Saumur can claim with Anjou names.

The white wines are vinified starting from the Chenin and can additional type of vine bénifier (chardonnay and/or Sauvignon) within the limit of 20%. The sauvignon will have to disappear at the latest with harvest 2017. The white, dry or medium dry wines, have a good aptitude for ageing out of bottle. The effervescent wines improve during the one second fermentation out of bottle. The Saumur white can égalemet be produced on the pieces classified in Saumur-Champigny.

The red wines are vinified starting from frank cabernet. It can be assembled with the cabernet-sauvignon and/or the Pineau d' Aunis. These wines can keep 5 to 6 years.
