Viktor Meyer
Viktor Meyer or Victor Meyer (September 8th 1848 with Berlin - August 8th 1897 with Heidelberg), was a German chemist .
Biography
He studied chemistry with Heidelberg and Berlin.In 1871, he became professor of Organic chemistry with Stuttgart; then in 1872, it took the succession of Johannes Wislicenus with the federal Polytechnic school of Zurich.
In 1885, it succeeded Hans Hübner with Göttingen and finally it succeeded Robert Wilhelm Bunsen with prestigious the Université of Heidelberg.
Contributions to chemistry
It is known still today for the method which bears its name of determination of the molar Masse of the volatile molecules.Moreover, it synthesized organic compounds having of the groupings nitro, discovered the Thiophène and described for the first time the Mustard gas.
