Victor-Amédée II of Savoy
Victor-Amédée II (Italian Vittorio Amedeo II), born with Turin the May 14th 1666, died with Moncalieri the October 31st 1732, was prince de Piémont and duke of Savoy of 1675 with 1730, king de Sicile of 1713 with 1720, then king de Sardaigne of 1720 with 1730. It was wire of Charles-Emmanuel II, duke of Savoy and prince de Piémont, and of Marie Jeanne Baptiste of Savoy-Nemours, duchess of Geneva and of Aumale.
Biography
It succeeds his father at the nine years age under the regency of his mother. Its reign starts with persecutions against the Vaudois. Although married to a niece of Louis XIV, it takes share with the Ligue of Augsburg against France, which invades its states. Beaten with the Battle of Staffarda (1690), then with Marsaille (1693), it must sign with Louis XIV a peace separated in 1696. Combined France at the beginning of the War of succession of Spain, it joint with the Austria in 1703, but its states are occupied by the duke of Vendôme. It is only in 1706, by a victory of Eugene of Savoy close to Turin which it can return in Piedmont. But a new defeat makes him lose Savoy. Scrambled with Austria in 1709, it keeps its neutrality until the Traités of Utrecht (1713) where it recovers Savoy, receives part of the Milanais and the Sicily, as well as the title of king. This island being too distant so that it can defend it, it negotiates in 1720 with the emperor Charles VI the exchange of the Royaume of Sicily against that of Sardinia.He abdicates in favor of his son the September 3rd 1730, withdraws himself with the castle of Saint-Alban close to Chambéry, then tries to take again the Crown. His/her son assigns it with residence with the castle of Moncalieri where he dies.

He marries in first weddings with Chambéry the May 6th 1684 Anne Marie of Orleans (1666 † 1728), girl of Philippe de France, duke of Orleans and Henriette of England. They have:- Marie Adelaide (1685 † 1712), married in 1697 with Louis de France (1682-1712), dolphin of France

Widower, it remarie Morganatique lies himself to Turin the August 2nd 1730 with Anna Canalis di Cumiana (1679 † 1769), then marchioness of Spigno (1731), girl of the count Francesco Maurizio Signore di Cumiana by Monica Francesca San Martino d' Aglié dei Marchesi di San Germano. They do not have children.
Victor Amédée II also had a connection of more than one ten years with the very young person Jeanne Baptiste of Albert de Luynes (1670 † 1736), girl of Louis-Charles of Albert, Duc of Luynes, and Anne de Rohan - Montbazon, and marries of Joseph Scaglia († 1704), count de Verua (screen of the film the Whore of the king ). Two children were legitimated and titrated on May 14th 1701 in spite of the rocambolesque escape from their mother towards the France with the end of the year 1700:

- Marie-Anne-France-Victoire (1690 † 1766), Miss de Suze, married in 1714 with Victor-Amédée of Savoy (1690 † 1741), prince de Carignan, his first cousin.
A letter of Louis XIV - in connection with a serious disagreement with his/her cousin in September 1703 - attests their tumultuous relations:
<< Sir, since the religion, the honor, the interest, alliance and your own signature are nothing between us, I send my cousin the duke of Vendôme to the head of my armies to explain you my intentions. It will not leave you which 24 hours to be determined >>
