VHSIC (abbreviation of English Very High Speed Integrated Circuits ) was an initiative of the Department of Defense of the United States of America dating from the the Eighties aiming at developing very the electronic circuits integrated at high-speed.

This initiative is the origin many projections in the field of the micro-electronics, as well on the lithographic processes, the assembly as on the tools of CAD. This program is at the origin of the language VHDL.
