The Gillet Vertigo is a car of the Belgian car manufacturer Gillet.
The mass-production car
Drawn by Charles Van den Bosch, the style of the car wants to be nonconventional, not undergoing the attacks of the mode. The first prototype Gillet Vertigo goes back to 1991, at this stage the engine envisaged has 4 cylinders in line turbocompressé of origin Ford Cosworth one year afterwards, this one is presented to the 71e motor-show of Brussels. Then two years were passed to allow the development of the frame monoshell entirely out of carbon, and the development of the standard vehicle in order to be to the standards in force. In its version of series, the car is caught of it with the record acceleration, it cuts down the 0 to 100 km/h in 3,266 seconds (record carried out in December 1994), these world records holds always today. Because the engine Ford Cosworth was not approved any more as from 2000, and that the factory had given up the production of this one, it was necessary to find another engine to equip Vertigo. The choice was made on the ragor V6 AWG from Alfa Romeo, engine which with the reputation to be V6 more envoûtant market. In 1995, Vertigo is exported while being presented to the living room of Strait. Restylée in 2002 and then carrying the denomination " Vertigo Streiff" in homage to the French importer (ex-pilot of formula 1 - tetraplegic following an accident of race), it then receives new block AWG from Alfa which is undoubtedly mélodieux V6 and more envoûtant market. Its cubic capacity is then increased to 3.2 liters and the power with 250 ch. Lors de l' edition 2007 of the 24:00 of Spa, a new version of Vertigo was revealed. Tony Gillet wanted to turn over to the sources because it estimated that its car had left " embourgeoisée". The new version of road will be revealed with the living room of Brussels 2008. It should always see its V6 at Alfa rebored to reach 3,8 liters of cubic capacity, which makes climb the power with 350 horses for a weight re-examined with the fall, that is to say 700kg. Vertigo as opposed to what one could believe it, is a car which can be flexible downtown (compactness, lightness) but is a true animal of race on circuit. To note that each customer has the right to be made mould a bucket seat for more ergonomics.
The car in competition
In 1996 first Vertigo of competition is sold with a French TEAM (V of V Racing TEAM) Then, since 1998, a Belgian TEAM took part in Belcar with Vertigo: MRS TEAM Leuven (Johan Van Vaerenbergh) In 2001 a TEAM “factory” is created, “Belgian Racing TEAM”: participation in Belcar First race TRUSTED of it WP championship of the world: October 2004 in Bahrain.
