Vernius house

The Maison Vernius is one of the Large Houses of the Landsraad, discovered in the series preceding Dune written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

The counts de Vernius are installed on the planet Ix. They are the allies of the Maison Atréides and the rivals of the Maison Richness. Their symbol is the double copper helix and crimson.

History

It is after the disgrace of the Maison Richness which loses the stronghold of Arrakis, that the Vernius House starts to be essential like dominant on the technological level, by providing many objects to all the empire.

The counts Vernius, in particular Dominic, are also noticed for their prowesses with the combat against the enemies of the Maison Corrino. Thus the concubine Shando, favorite of the emperor Elrood IX request its permission to leave Kaitan. The emperor accepts, but discovering that Shando joined the Count Dominic Vernius, it becomes jealous and talks a personal hatred towards the count.

The Vernius House has a great economic force thanks to Ix, its capital planet, but it was also the cause of its loss. Indeed, the Bucket Tleilax in front of, within the framework of the project Amal to synthesize the spice, they seized Ix to take the control of its technology and the industrial polygons. The members of the house had to disperse and declare themselves renegade. Shando was cut down by Sardaukars on a moved back planet. The Count Dominic become renegade launched actions against the emperor since his secret bases of Salusa Secundus and the desert of Arrakis. Among the men accompanying it in his combat one finds Gurney Halleck. This last escaped the fate from his/her companion and their chief Dominic by finding the Vernius children. Kailea and Rhombur being under protection the House Atréides and of its Duke Leto.

Capital

The capital of the Vernius House is on the planet Ix, in the town of Vernii, vast complex arranged with the ceiling of a cave at the bottom of which are beat the long-distance carriers of the space Guilde.
