Vendangeron

Name given in the areas of Vineyard S to the Trombicula autumnalis , small Acarina which attacks with the animals and particularly the man, causing him sharp itchings which one tried to calm with vinaigrée water.

The vendangeron, which was called Leptus autumnalis (“French Lepte”, by transposition) until the XIXe century, is also called “mullet” in the campaigns and its name most known Vernaculaire is “Aoûtat” (or aoutat, according to the spelling reform of 1990).
