Vejle

Vejle is a city of the Denmark located in the south of the peninsula of the Jutland. Place chief of the area of the Denmark-of-South, it has: 52573 inhabitants. The name of the city means means “passage to Gué”.

The town of Vejle is also the chief town of the commune of Vejle (: 104101 inhabitants), who gathers five old communes since the communal reform of 2007. Before this date, the town of Vejle formed a commune with whole share.

The heights surrounding the city are covered with Hêtre S which would be known to flower a fifteen or so days before those of the remainder of the country. The center of the city developed around the rivers of Vejle and Grejs. The city extended then on its hills, then towards the west towards the Années 1930, which transfer the construction of the Digue and the boulevard.

Industry

Vejle was once named the “Manchester of Denmark” because of its important industry of spinning mill of the Coton.

Food industry held to with it also a big part and was represented there by butcheries TULIP.

Sport

The dominant football team - the Vejle Boldklub - gained a good number of national or different championships.

This team produced many celebrities of which Allan Simonsen (Ballon of gold in 1977)

Curiosities

The windmill at the top of the Søndermarken hill is the symbol of the city since many years, as well as the hotel Munkebjerg, modern hotel equipped with a casino.
