The vegetable breathing is the process of Respiration which takes place in a Plante. It results in a consumption of O2 and a rejection of CO2, as in the animals. It should not be confused with the gaseous exchange which had with photosynthesis.

Types

There exist two types of breathing:
  1. the breathing ensured by the respiratory chain located in the membrane of the Mitochondries, which is held permanently
  2. and the photorespiration which proceeds only in the presence of light.

Photosynthesis

When a Végétal receives Lumière, it absorbs CO2 present in the Air and rejects of O2. This phenomenon of gaseous exchange between the Vegetable and the medium names the photosynthesis. The chlorophyllian cell S use the Carbone of CO2 to manufacture Organic matter and reject the Oxygène remaining. The cell S able to manufacture organic matter starting from mineral matter are autotrophic cells .

When the plant is in the darkness, only the other type of Respiration takes place. The Plante absorbs of O2 and rejects of CO2.
