Vauban channel

The channel Vauban , of its true name channel of Neuf-Brisach is a channel connecting Ensisheim to Neuf-Brisach in the Plaine of Alsace. Built in 1699 by Vauban and Jean-Baptiste de Régemortes to allow the routing of the stones extracted the careers of Bergholtz for the construction of the fortifications of Neuf-Brisach, it sprinkles the communes of Réguisheim, Meyenheim, Oberentzen, Niederentzen, Biltzheim, Oberhergheim.

Its length is originally of 39 km punctuated of 15 locks. A type of special boat was conceived by Vauban for this channel.
