Van of fire

The van of fire is the Camion of fireman; one also speaks about machine-pump ( EP ), or about ton-pump (in Switzerland). It is about an automobile véhicue provided

  • with a water reserve, called “ton”;
  • of a motor-driven pump, a pump pulled by the Driving of the van and putting water under pressure to send it in the pipes;
  • of one or several motor-driven pump portables, functioning in aspiration and repression;
  • of pipes and lances allowing the projection of water on the Fire, of divisions allowing to supply several lances on the same pipe, devices allowing the crossing of the pipes by vehicles when the establishment crosses the roadway;
  • of insulating breathing apparatuses (ARI) and portable bottles of compressed air, to allow the progression of the teams of attack in the Smoked ;
  • of material allowing to practice openings in the doors and the walls (axe, mass);
  • of a cabin allowing the transport of the personnel;
  • of signal devices: Gyrophare S and sound signalling Hooter let us deux-tons;
  • of a radio allowing to be in connection with the center of coordination of helps (CTA or Codis in France).

The other vehicle very much used for urban fires is the Large scales, or Car-scale. It is about a retractable scale carried by a vehicle, and which gives access the great heights to carry out rescues (evacuation of people), to convey firemen on the floors, and to sprinkle with in top.
