Valley of the monkeys (Egypt)
The valley of the monkeys is the name given to a ouadi being inserted in the libyque mountain, near to the valley of the kings, also called the valley of the West ( West valley ), from where the name of the tombs (WV22, WV23, WV24 and WV25) who were found there.
This valley is thus named because of the existence, in the necropolis of Aÿ (tomb WV23), on the wall vis-a-vis the entry, of a plank on three registers of crowned monkeys, extract of the book of the Amdouat with the baboons representing the hours of the night and various divinities.
One discovered there in particular fall it from three princesses having lived under the reign of Thoutmôsis {{II}}.
