Valley of Arve
The valley of Arve is an intra-alpine valley of the Haute-Savoie (France) and Suisse with the hollow of which the Arve runs out
Geography
The valley of Arve corresponds to the bed of the Arve, torrent which takes its source in the massive of Mont Blanc, with the Col of Balme, until its junction with the the Rhone, with Geneva. The valley, from the source to the the Rhone, extends on approximately 105 km.This valley finds its origin during the glacial era when the glaciers of the the Alps extended beyond Geneva.

Historically, it corresponds partly to the Faucigny, which was yielded to the counts de Savoie in 1355.

Economy
The valley of Arve abounds in industries specialized in the field of the Décolletage or the precision mechanics. The number of companies is estimated at approximately 1000 TPE and SME carrying out 65% of undercutting in France. The valley was retained to become one of the 66 poles of competitiveness defined by CIADT in 2005: “Arve Industries Haute-Savoie Mont Blanc” (60 000 industrial employment, 1200 researchers, 250 brevets/an).Moreover, this valley is one of the alpine crossroads most important thanks to the tunnel of Mont Blanc and the A40, connecting Northern Europe (via the Rhone-native axis) to the Italy.
