The urban community of Large Nancy is a French inter-commune structure , located in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle and the area Lorraine.

Nancy, which had very early started to extend in agglomeration on the common neighbors, organized this agglomeration very early also. As of 1959, the District of the Agglomeration nancéienne allowed the inter-commune co-operation. This one was reinforced by the transformation into Urban community (the Grand Nancy ) in 1995.

The Urban community of Nancy limits itself to Nancy and the communes of the first crown; it thus gathers only 270.000 inhabitants out of the 410.000 of the urban surface.

Composition

The figures of population selected are the Population without double accounts (general census of the population of 1999). They are besides those indicated on the site of the community.

The community is managed by the Community Council of 80 members designated by the respective municipal councils in proportion to the population.

The plenary assembly delegates her powers to an office of 34 members including/understanding the president and the 24 vice-presidents, and other elected officials of which mayors of the communes which are not vice-presidents, as well as representatives of the opposition.

The number of delegated one of the communes, not yet identified, is undervalued of a unit, the site of the community listing one of the 80 delegated without specifying which commune it represents.
