The United States Scrabble Open (USSO) (formerly the National Scrabble Championship ) is the greatest tournament of Scrabble in English language with the the United States. The first edition was disputed in 1978 by 64 invited players. Since, the players had the right to qualify themselves. In 2006 of the players coming from several countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia disputed the tournament. 5 of the 18 editions since 1978 were gained by a anglophone world champion of Scrabble. There are 7 or 8 divisions, named alphabetically, with has for the first division, and there is an equipment for the winner of each division, but only the winner of division has is declared champion of the United States.

Currently, the players dispute 28 traditional parts over 4 days. The following day, the first two players of the classification dispute a final in 5 handles maximum. The players are classified per many victories. Since 2004, the final is diffused on ESPN, a sporting chain American.
