The United States Army Air Body (or USAAC ) is the old name used to indicate the equivalent of current the United States Air Force (US Air Force). This body was made up the July 2nd 1926 by the Congrès. Between 1917 and 1926, the air units were gathered within the United States Army Air Service.
During the Second world war, its importance grows and the name changed into United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) the June 20th 1941, a few months before the entry in war of the United States. The formal dismantling of the USAAF, a procedure of the Congress, was not launched before 1947 to yield the place to USAF (US Air Force).
It replaced Army Aviation Branch going back to the Années 1950.
