Union of the greens and the peasants
L´ Union of the Greens and the Peasants , in Latvian: Zaļo Zemnieku savienība ( ZZS ), is an alliance between the left Latvian Latvijas Zemnieku savienība (Union of the peasants of Latvia) and Latvijas Zaļā Partija (green Parti Latvia).
This alliance is based on a shared feeling of the voters of the two parties, the Latvians preferring, from an ecological point of view, the small farms, which explains this rather rare union in the other countries.
Created a little before the elections of 2002 to the Saeima, it obtained 12 deputies. In March 2004, Indulis Emsis became Prime Minister. To the elections of October 2006, the ZSS progresses and obtains 16,71% of the voices and 18 deputies (out of 100).
If the Greens belong to the European Green Parti, the Union of the Farmers collaborates with the European Parti of the liberals, democrats and reforming. No Appointed European in 2004, fault of the 5%.
