Union Carbide

Union Carbide is an American multinational producing of Pesticide S.

History

The Union Carbide company was founded in 1898. In 1917, the company Carbon Corporation amalgamates to form the Union Carbide & Carbon Corporation .

The Bakelite Corporation amalgamated with Union Carbide in 1939. This company was founded by Dr. Leo Baekeland, a pioneer in the plastic S (producing the Bakélite).

In 1997 Union Carbide and the company Exxon Chemical cooperated in research on the production of Polyéthylène.

They became a subsidiary company of the company Dow Chemical the February 6th 2001.

Union Carbide is sadly famous since the explosion of one of its factories, the December 3rd 1984, with Bhopal, in India. It is largest industrial Catastrophe known to date and which caused more than one ten thousands of deaths.

Today, 20 years after this drama, of the toxic products to the free air or hidden time of the use of this factory, continues to kill out of tens of people every month. No effort is made on behalf of this company, nor of the Indian State to clean this factory.

The company was then directed by Warren Anderson.
