Uffa Fox

Uffa Fox 1898 - 1972 were a large régatier and an immense naval architect.

Born on the island from Wight, Uffa Fox is regarded as the father of the modern center-board. After a seven years training with the large manufacturer of boats A.E. Saunders, it decides, at 21 years, to fly of its own wings, and very quickly it is success. It is the first, since 1933, has to design center-boards able to plane on the wave.

Its most known sailing ships are the Albacore, the Javelo, the Flying-fifteen, the Firefly, the Day-Sailer and of the 14 feet international.

Its books on the sail, writes the majority at the end of the Thirties, are traditional kind. During the Second world war, Fox designed an airborne lifeboat intended for the survivors of the shot down planes or cast boats.

Fox is also famous for its relationship with the royal family, it has regatta on dragons and 5,5 meters with the duke of Edinburgh.

He was also the professor of veil of the Prince Charles.
