Turckheim is a common French, located in the area Alsace and in the department of the Haut-Rhin.
Its inhabitants is called Turckheimois and Turckheimoises.
Geography
Turckheim is located in the valley of the Fecht, downstream from Munster, and not far from the town of Colmar, chief town of the Haut-Rhin.
It is also located on the Wine trail of Alsace.
Turckheim is famous for its Vignoble S.
History
In 1315 began construction from the ramparts, which are still today in excellent state.
Turckheim is one of the only towns of France where still a night watchman remains, primarily for the folklore and tourism.
The January 5th 1675 took place a memorable battle, between the armies of the king de France Louis XIV, led by the Marshal Turenne, and the Imperial ones, i.e. the Autrichiens.
Turckheim belonged to the Décapole.
Turckheim has many half-timbered houses, characteristic of the Alsace.
