Tudela
Tudela sometimes (one can find Tudèle in French, primarily in a historical context or also Tutera in Basque) is a town of Spain located in the Communauté Forale de Navarre, on the Ebre, at 91 km in the south of Pampelune.
It is the second city most populated Navarre after Pampelune, with 32.802 inhabitants at the 1/1/2006.
Capital of the Ribera de Navarre.
At the time of the Kingdom of Navarre, they were with Pampelune the one the two principal cities.
Evêché, suffragan of Burgos.
It is the fatherland of Benjamin de Tudèle.
This city probably existed under the Romans. It was an important city of the Moors. King Alphonse took it to the Moors in 1115.
The general Lannes demolished Spanish Castagnos there the November 23rd 1808.
