Truce of Ratisbon
The truce of Ratisbon is an agreement signed in 1684 between the king de France Louis XIV and the emperor Léopold I {{er}}.
In November 1683, Louis XIV seizes Courtrai in the Spanish Netherlands, and in June 1684 of Luxembourg (continuation of the Politique of the Meetings). In May 1684, the French fleet bombards and sets fire to the port of Genoa in Italy. In front of such a French determination, the United Provinces, however threatened by the projection of France in the Spanish Netherlands, break their alliance with the Spain Habsbourg eoise (June 29th, 1684). The emperor Léopold Ier by the truce of Ratisbon of August 15th, 1684, accepts acquisitions of Louis XIV in Alsace and in the Spanish Netherlands. Spain will make in the same way on August 20th of it.
