Tru64
Tru64 is an operating system owner of the type Unix, developed by DIGITAL (since repurchased by Compaq then HP). It is an owner system and paying, used for waiters and work stations. It is a direct competitor of HP-UX, AIX and Solaris. Following the repurchase of DIGITAL per Compaq then of Compaq by HP, and with the existence of the range HP-UX at HP, it became clearly that this excellent system made doubled bloom on the Unix range of HP. He from now on is announced by HP at the end of the lifetime. The current version is 5.1b3.
Tru64 was developed for the Processeur S Alpha RISC (64 bits).
Initialement, this operating system was called OSF/1 (Open Software Foundation, DIGITAL partnership, IBM,…) with beginning of the year 90. It uses a core of the Mach type.
Tru64 has graphic tools of administration. The software is distributed in the form of parcellings called “deposits”. Tru64 uses XFree86, the environment of office CDE and many Free software (which can be packages in RPM).
