Triglidae

The Triglidae are a family of fish living on sea-beds. Species of this family are capable to emit noises in the event of danger, unlike the majority of fish. This growl is produced by the vibration of the swim Bladder.

What is typical at Triglidae are the ventral fins transformed into tactile bodies, with which they can “run besides” of short distances on sea-bed. The dorsal fin is divided. The shape of the head is also striking, as well as the opening of the nozzle, large and broad. The maximum length is of 1 meter.

One meets Triglidae in all the seas and they live especially on sand or movable ground, in which they flush out food with their ventral fins. They live up to 300 m of depth.

They nourish Poisson S, small Homard S and of mould S.

The vernacular names most usually carried by this family are gurnards, Rouget S, Trigle S, Malarmat S. They are largely used cooks some and are known for their firm flesh, which makes them very suitable for the fish soups and Bouillabaisse S. Trigla lucerna (Syn Chelidonichthys lucernus ) is the most known species; its savor resembles that of the Crevette S.
